Dr. Jyhene Kebsi is a tenured assistant professor who lectures in gender studies. She has held different roles including the MA program convenor, early career representative and director of learning & teaching.
With regard to peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Kebsi's scholarly research has appeared in Journal of World Literature, The Journal of North African Studies, Journal of Global Postcolonial Studies, Postcolonial Text, Law & Literature, Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies and Antipodes: A Global Journal of Australian/New Zealand Literature.
Dr. Kebsi's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching sheds light on the representation of migration, asylum, globalization, decolonization and feminisms in literature, cinema and music.
Dr. Kebsi's op-eds and poems have appeared in Berkley Forum, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, The Conversation, Jadaliyya, The New Arab, Overland, Arena and En-Gender. She is also the founder and convenor of the Gendered Transnational Texts & Communities Network. This network organizes panels, workshops and conferences. In addition to academic events organization, Dr. Kebsi has given more than 40 conference papers, including multiple keynote speeches.
