I am a professor in Education Rights and Transformation at the University of Johannesburg. My research interests are in Khoi-San feminist historiographies, and I was previously Associate Professor in African Feminist Studies at the University of Cape Town, and also acting head of African Studies. I am the founding director of the San and Khoi Research Unit at the University of Cape Town. My book Ausi Told Me: Why Cape Herstoriographies Matter (Fanele), 2021 was joint winner of the NIHSS 2023 best non-fiction monograph award. In addition, I have worked widely in higher education and the heritage sector nationally and globally, including with Iziko National Museums, UNESCO (African History and Education), Stanford University and the Universities of York and Kingston (London).
