Julio Cervino is professor of marketing and brand management at University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain). B.S. in Economics (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, 1985), MBA University Autonoma of Madrid (Spain, 1990), M.S. in International Business and Affairs (Washington University, St. Louis, 1992) and Ph.D. in Business and Economics, University Autonoma of Madrid (1996). He has wide professional experience in the marketing field in multinational companies such as Caterpillar Tractor Corp. and Maritz Inc (Spain’s subsidiary) and 25 years of experience as an Expert witness in the areas of competition, intellectual property, trademarks, and patents in European and Spanish courts, conducting technical expert reports for large multinational groups and international brands. His academic areas of interest focus on the international field, with a concentration on brand management, country branding, competition, and emerging and transitional markets, with a current perspective on sustainability. The most recent articles were published in the Journal of Small Business Management (2024), Journal of International Marketing (2020) and Review of Marketing Science (2019). He is the director of the MarketinGroup Business Research (www.marketingroup.eu), member of the International Valuation Committee of LES (Licensing Executive Society), expert advisor of the Spain Country Brand Project and member of many academic associations, including the American Marketing Academy and the Spanish Association of Academic and Professional Marketing.
