Professor Julie Andrews OAM is descended from the Yorta Yorta, Wurrundjeri and Wiradjuri peoples. She has an extensive work history in First Peoples' higher education and research policy. Professor Andrews is Director of the Gabra Biik, Wurruwila Wutja (Clever Country, Clever People) Indigenous Research Centre at La Trobe University. Gabra Biik, Wurruwila Wutja is a national and international research centre focusing on Indigenous research partnerships. Professor Andrews has a long association with the Aboriginal communities of Victoria through her research and teaching. Her research is multi-disciplinary and therefore includes culture, anthropology, identity, history, decolonisation, family and mobility, ethics, health, community development and strong families. Her research is associated with self-determination of Aboriginal Australia. Whilst working and living in Victoria her research is intrinsically connected to her own life experiences, her extensive Aboriginal family, Aboriginal Melbourne and First Nations communities.
