My research is grounded in the conceptual framework of socio-ecological metabolism, which examines the relationships between nature and society through the intentional and unintentional material flows involved in human activities. I focus on nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon flows in agricultural and forestry systems since the 19th century across a range of socio-ecological contexts, particularly in Europe, West Africa, France, and Côte d’Ivoire. My current research aims to investigate the ecological conditions of agrarian transitions, including both agricultural and forestry systems.
