Julia Becker is a Professor at the Joint Centre for Disaster Research in the School of Psychology at Massey University. She undertakes social science research on a range natural hazard and environmental issues. Her areas of expertise include perceptions, preparedness, community resilience, emergency management and warnings. She has worked extensively in New Zealand (e.g. Canterbury and Kaikōura earthquakes) and internationally (e.g. U.S.A, Australia, Japan).
