Juan Zahir Naranjo Cáceres

Juan Zahir Naranjo Cáceres is a Colombian-Australian scholar and lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia), where he teaches across international relations, international law, and constitutional politics. He holds a PhD in International Relations and Political Science. His research examines comparative constitutional law, regional integration, democratic resilience, and judicial institutions, drawing connections between Latin America, Australia, and wider international developments.

He has published in the peer-reviewed journals Global Discourse (Bristol University Press) and Globalizations (Taylor & Francis), and served as Guest Editor for the special issue Regional Integration in Latin America: Critical Perspectives in the Time of Populism in Global Discourse (2024–2025).

His analytical commentary appears in outlets such as The Conversation, the Lowy Institute’s Interpreter, and the Australian Institute of International Affairs, among others, with several pieces republished internationally. As a regular media commentator, he provides legal and geopolitical analysis across major television, radio, and podcast platforms – including the ABC, SBS, Sky News, and AAP – as well as international networks across Asia and beyond.

He writes in both English and Spanish, with his Spanish-language work published across Latin America and Spain. His analysis has also been translated into German, Japanese, French, and Turkish, among other languages, and has appeared in international outlets including Newsweek Japan, Channel News Asia, and the German magazine Krautreporter.
