• SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow, International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation, College of Arts, University of Guelph

I am a PhD in ethnomusicology—currently a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation at the University of Guelph. The last decade of my work has been concerned with the sociocultural and political implications of sports soundscapes.

I have been awarded the title "Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies" at Memorial University and my PhD thesis, "Net Effects: Nationalist Capitalist Hegemony in the Hip Hop-Basketball Paradigm" was recently awarded institutional nomiation for the 2026 CAGS-Proquest Distinguished Dissertation Awards. My work has been published in English and Portuguese—I have given talks and lectures on four continents. I have completed a short-term research exchange with the Smithsonian.
