Joost Rietveld

Joost (/Yoast/) Rietveld is Associate Professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the UCL School of Management. His research interests are at the intersection of technology strategy and innovation management. Joost is an expert on platform strategies and digital business models. He has conducted research across various industries, including video games, mobile apps, non-fungible tokens, board games, and crowdfunding. Prior to entering academia, Joost worked at a video game developer and later as a consultant. Joost has extensive teaching and speaking experience. He has designed and taught courses at several world-leading institutions including New York University, New York Film Academy, Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University, and UCL. His expert commentaries have appeared in various tier 1 news media and trade publications. Joost publishes Platform Papers—a research blog covering platform competition and Big Tech.
