- Senior Lecturer in Film Studies, University of Greenwich
I am a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Greenwich, where I have taught since 2017. Before then, I gained teaching experience and qualifications at the University of Worcester, Birmingham City University, Coventry University, and the University of East Anglia, where I obtained my PhD. My thesis focused on the distribution and marketing of Japanese films in the UK. Since completing my PhD, I have written review and feature articles in NEO Magazine, as well as having academic research published in Frames, Participations, Bright Lights Film Journal, and several other journals and edited collections. These publications have focused on horror, home media formats, and world cinema exhibition and distribution, as well as Japanese cinema. My first monograph was published in 2021, titled "The Paths of Zatoichi", which charted the global influence of the famous Blind Swordsman character. I haven also been a guest on several podcasts episodes, including Beyond Japan, Eastern Kicks, Fantasy/Animation, Japan Station, Second Features, and the Third Window Films Podcast.
