- Research Fellow in Digital Media and Ethnography, University of Sydney
I have an interdisciplinary background in anthropology and development from my PhD and between 2011 and 2014 I was a postdoctoral researcher in Anthropology at University College London. My research from my postdoctoral fellow to my current role focusses on digital media practices in relation to regionally comparative mobilities, family relationships and gender. My books include Social Media in Trinidad (UCL Press, 2017), Visualising Facebook (Miller and Sinanan, UCL Press, 2017), Webcam (Miller and Sinanan, Polity, 2014) and How the World Changed Social Media (Miller et. al. 2016, UCL Press) I am on the editorial board of Transitions: Journal of Transient Migration (Intellect Books). My current research is on two case studies in mobile media and mobile livelihoods, where I am looking at FIFO workers in the Queensland mining industry and a comparative study on workers in the Everest tourism industry.
