John Wenger is Professor of Physical Chemistry at University College Cork (UCC) and joint founder of the Centre for Research into Atmospheric Chemistry (http://www.ucc.ie/en/crac/).
Prof. Wenger's main research interests are in (i) the atmospheric degradation of volatile organic compounds and (ii) the chemical composition and sources of atmospheric aerosols. His work has resulted in over 120 publications in internationally renowned journals.
Prof. Wenger was co-ordinator of the SAPPHIRE project which quantified the contribution of residential solid fuel burning to PM2.5 in rural towns in Ireland and contributed to the scientific evidence base for the new solid fuel regulations published in 2022.
