I am pharmacist by training (BS in Pharmacy University of Toronto, 1979, Doctor of Pharmacy Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences 1987) with an additional Master of International Public Health Degree (University of Queensland, 2010). I teach graduate courses in Social Pharmacy to doctoral pharmacy students and undergraduate courses in Intro to Public Health, Health and Development, and Public Health Programming.

I am on the Board of the Iowa Public Health Association and on the Scientific Advisory Committee for Iowa Immunizes.

Most of my research interests these days are in the area of vaccines - especially vaccine hesitancy in adults. We published a paper last year on "Vaccine Hesitancy - What is it, What Causes it, What can We do about it?" in a pharmacy journal. We have a paper currently under review at PLOS One on vaccine attitudes in healthcare paraprofessionals. We just received a grant to recreate a series of short educational videos to educate nursing aides, home health aides, etc. about vaccines.
