Dr John Nakuta is a social justice scholar affiliated to the University of Namibia, where he teaches human rights law and administrative justice.
John’s socio-legal research interests orbit around justice, human rights, the rule of law and governance. He writes about and researches social justice issues related to: colonial and historical injustices, land justice, housing poverty, workers’ rights, minority rights, access to justice, public participation, and access to information, among others.
John currently serves as the media ombudsman of Namibia. He has occupied this position since September 2017. From July 2022 to February 2024, he served as the regional advisor for southern Africa for the international NGO Minority Rights Group International (MRGI). This position allowed him to champion minority rights issues in the SADC sub-region.
