Johann van Niekerk

Johann is affiliated with the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He holds a PhD and two Master’s degrees, and has conducted intensive research on game birds since 1977, with publications in leading scientific journals worldwide. He is also an active environmental consultant with 27 years of experience in the planning, management, and design of large-scale cattle feedlot operations across southern Africa. His work focuses on protecting environmental resources—such as maintaining water quality in river systems—while also minimising environmental stressors that can negatively affect animal health and production
