I am a health services researcher at The University of Sydney's, University Centre for Rural Health and the Centre for Disability Research and Policy based in Lismore, NSW. I have focused my research and evaluation efforts on understanding and improving the way our primary health care system delivers health care for socially vulnerable populations. My program of research uses collaborative and participatory quality improvement techniques to evaluate and strengthen health systems to improve both preventive care and health outcomes. At the core of my research is a strong health equity agenda, which initially focused on strengthening the quality of care being delivered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and, more recently, for people with disability. Thus, my work addresses issues of profound importance to contemporary Australia.

My extensive knowledge of primary health care systems was originally developed through working for nearly 10 years in Divisions of General Practice/Medicare Local roles and expanded through several years in evaluation and research roles.
