- Senior Lecturer in Spatial Planning, University of Manchester
Joanne has pioneered social innovation in effective co-production and engagement, with a particular focus on inclusion and hearing everyone’s voice in dialogue. She is the founder of social business Ketso, which has turned the findings from her ESRC-funded research into an accessible toolkit used around the world. She was granted a British Academy Innovation Fellowship with the UK National Commission for UNESCO to develop innovative new ways to catalyse transformative sustainability learning and engagement with the RoundView. The RoundView is an award-winning framework for sustainability learning, visioning and decision-making. It was a key engagement approach in the 5-year, National Lottery Heritage funded, £3.2 million Carbon Landscape restoration project, which contributed to the declaration of two National Nature Reserves on the doorstep of millions of people in Manchester.
