Dr. Jimmie Lenz is the Frank and Irene Salerno Visiting Professor of Financial Economics at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering. He developed and leads the Master of Engineering in Financial Technology, the largest program of its kind. Lenz is an experienced executive, researcher, and scholar in the application of quantitative methods and Capital Markets.

Starting his career as an institutional equity and derivatives trader over 25 years ago. Jimmie has made the adoption of new technologies a hallmark of his career. He was an early adopter of electronic trading and later algorithmic trading and artificial intelligence solutions, utilizing these tools to develop investment programs for large wealth management, pension and insurance firms.

Jimmie was a member of the executive committee and the third largest broker dealer in the US reporting to the firm’s CEO. Other senior management roles within the finance community include leading an NYSE institutional broker dealer with foreign and domestic operations, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer at a top three broker dealer, and the Head of Predictive Analytics for one of the largest Wealth Management firms in the US.

Jimmie holds an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Finance from Washington University in Saint Louis, and Doctor of Business
Administration-Finance from Washington University’s Olin Business School. He has several patents and patents pending for his work and speaks frequently on the subjects of capital markets and innovation.
