Jim Picton is Head of Course for Digital Media at CQUniversity. With a background in learning design, animation, illustration, and game design and development, he is passionate about helping students build the technical and professional capabilities needed for creative careers. He teaches across a range of Digital Media units, supervises capstone projects, and supports students undertaking Work Integrated Learning placements.
Jim is currently completing his PhD exploring the creative potential of virtual reality (VR) to unlock personal stories locked within historical objects from the First World War.
He was also an inaugural member of the Immerse High: Immersive Storytelling in Schools Competition, launched on the Sunshine Coast in 2017. More recently, he has served as a judge for the Design Institute of Australia’s Graduate of the Year Awards (GOTYA) and the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association’s Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDAs).
