Dr. Jill Zarestky is an associate professor in the Learning Design and Training program and associate director of the School of Education at Colorado State University. She earned a Ph.D. in educational human resource development, with a specialization in adult education, from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in computational and applied mathematics from the University of Texas, Austin.
Dr. Zarestky has more than 15 years of experience teaching mathematics and education courses in a variety of higher education contexts, ranging from first-year students to advanced doctoral courses, small seminars to large lectures, and via formats including traditional face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online. She particularly enjoys teaching qualitative research methods and helping students develop their writing skills.
Her research interests include informal, nonformal, and community-based education, particularly in international non-governmental and non-profit organizations, and STEM education, with funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She served as Secretary of the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education from 2014 to 2018, and currently serves as an editor for the journal, New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development.
