Dr Jiayi Jin received her PhD from Nottingham (2018). In 2026, she moved from Northumbria University to the University of Strathclyde, where she is now a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture. Her research focuses on the role of new media and technologies in knowledge production and socio-spatial linkage generation, inclusive innovation with architectural or urban environments, and creative participation for sustainable, inclusive city development, in response to social, spatial and environmental inequalities.

She served as School Research Cultural Coordinator, Departmental Cultural Ethics Co-Lead, Studio Lead of the MArch Studio: Performing Architectures (2018–2022), and Acting Programme Lead for the Master of Architecture at Northumbria University. Since 2014, she has also been the founder of inter-lab, an architecture and ideas studio dedicated to research and professional practice projects.
