• Associate Professor of Criminology, Deputy Director Research (Griffith Youth Forensic Service), Griffith University

I am an Associate Professor of Criminology at Griffith University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and hold a PhD in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in Canada. My research focuses on the developmental pathways to sexual offending, drawing on life-course and criminal career frameworks to examine how early trauma and victimisation shape later harmful behaviours. I co-authored Understanding Sexual Offending, a book that synthesises empirical evidence to counter common misconceptions. As Deputy Director of Research at the Griffith Youth Forensic Service, I have led quasi-experimental evaluations of different therapeutic programs for justice-involved youth. My work also spans evaluations of criminal justice reforms such as home detention, and the role of vocational education in reducing adult prisoner recidivism, with a strong focus on evidence-based, community-oriented interventions.
