Jesin James

Jesin is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. Jesin is an electrical engineer working on developing speech and language technology for languages with limited resources. She works closely with linguists, education experts and communities to ensure that the technology developed benefits the people for whom its built for. She leads projects funded by MBIE and Royal Society of NZ that focus on developing resources and technology for the languages of New Zealand and rest of the Pacific. Jesin believes that if you combine your passion with your career, you will never feel that you are working, and she gets to do that in her academic role researching on speech technology.
