Dr. Vanos is an associate professor in the School of Sustainability and the College of Global Futures at Arizona State University. Her research examines connections between extreme heat and human health in urban areas, with a strong focus on heat adaptation and unique heat risks faced by vulnerable groups, including children, athletes, and outdoor workers. She Co-Directs the Heat Futures Laboratory and the HeatReady Schools Program. She has contributed to influential scientific assessments, including the most recent IPCC report, the National Climate Assessment, and heat and health guidance by the World Health Organization. Dr. Vanos earned her PhD in atmospheric sciences from the University of Guelph in Canada and a postdoctoral degree at Health Canada.
