Jennifer Montgomery

(She/her)

I am an experienced Health Researcher, Team Leader, and Clinician with 10+ years in youth mental
health in Aotearoa-New Zealand, Ireland and Singapore.

I received a Career Development Award from the Health Research Council of New Zealand to complete a research project titled; "Feathers In the Wind: The Need for Culturally Safe Trauma-Informed Care in Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection Residences and Group Homes in Aotearoa".

My research centres the voices of care-experienced young people and the staff who support them. It focuses on how the mental health needs of young people in the Oranga Tamariki care and protection system are understood and supported from a trauma-informed perspective. I am passionate about translating research to practice and policy to enable systemic transformation of the state care system and related agencies.
