Jennifer Mallon

(She/her)

Jenny is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Coral Reef Institute (NCRI), Southeastern University, where she is working on a NOAA funded project to understand changes to Florida's coral reefs. Her work focusses on physiological processes such as calcification, photosynthesis, and reproduction by corals and other reef organisms, and how they are impacted by global climate change to inform coral reef conservation efforts.

Originally from the UK, Jenny completed her undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews and her PhD at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Jenny’s research brought her to the US in 2022 as a Smithsonian Postdoctoral Research Fellow and US-UK Fulbright Research Scholar. Prior to academia, Jenny worked as a divemaster, dive instructor, and reef restoration project manager. Jenny has worked internationally for reef conservation efforts, most recently, developing a progressive web application www.coralobserver.com, to streamline coral spawning data collection and encourage citizen scientist participation.
