Jennifer Hoewe, Ph.D., is an associate professor within the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Political Science.
Her research focuses on media psychology and political communication. She has authored more than 50 refereed journal articles and book chapters. Her book, Enjoyment Is Breaking News: How We Became Less Informed and More Divided (and How to Fix It), examines the role of enjoyment in news consumption by detailing how changes in the information environment have impacted news consumers (published by the MIT Press in 2026).
Dr. Hoewe is the Associate Director of the Center for American Political History, Media, and Technology (CAPT). She is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Purdue Research in Media Effects (PRIME) Lab. Additionally, she is the former Head of the Communication Theory and Methodology Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
