Jennifer Hart is a historian of technology, mobility, entrepreneurialism, and urban space. Her research focuses on the social, cultural, and economic history of Accra, Ghana in the 20th century. Her first book, Ghana on the Go: African Mobility in the Age of Motor Transportation (Indiana University Press, 2016) traced the history of African automobility in Ghana. It was a 2017 finalist for the African Studies Association book prize. Her work has been published in the International Review of Social History, International Journal of African Historical Studies, Technology and Culture, and African Economic History. She is an active public scholar who writes for Africa is a Country and Clio and the Contemporary, as well as her own blog and numerous digital projects.
