Jeni Thornley is a documentary filmmaker and currently an Honorary Research Associate at UTS, FASS, Communication. She also works as a writer/director, script editor, film reviewer, and is a consultant film valuer for the Federal Government's Cultural Gifts Program. During 2002-2013 she lectured in 'Issues in Documentary' (p/t) at UTS focusing on documentary history, changing forms and ethics. Her most recent documentary 'Island Home Country', a cine-essay on race and colonisation in Tasmania, screened nationally on ABC TV and is distributed by the Education Shop, and VOD with beamAfilm; a Study Guide by Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) is available. Island Home Country was produced as a doctorate at UTS, and Jeni has published several book chapters and article based on her thesis (for details see https://uts.academia.edu/JeniThornley and Jeni's website http://jenithornley.com/
Jeni is currently developing an archival film/project, 'Memory=Film', drawn from her 20 year super 8 collection and and developing a project exploring neo-colonising in the Kimberley.
