I am a healthcare ethicist, freelance writer, and mom to two energetic boys. I hold a PhD in philosophy with a minor in cognitive science from the University of Arizona and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Center for Ethics and Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. I am currently an adjunct professor of healthcare ethics at Concordia University Irvine and an instructor at UCLA Extension.

I write about mental health, wellbeing, parenting, and social issues for publications such as The Washington Post, CNBC, Business Insider, Good Housekeeping, Fortune, Success, and Psychology Today. My current reporting on the dignity of human caregiving in an increasingly automated, efficiency-driven world is supported in part by a media grant from The Greater Good Science Center.
