Dr. Hayes currently is a professor at Penn State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1993. Throughout his career, Dr. Hayes has researched and written about psychotherapy and college student mental health, publishing more than 100 articles and book chapters. His research has been funded by several agencies, including the American Psychological Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has received early career awards from both the Society for Psychotherapy Research and the American Psychological Association, where he is a fellow in two divisions. Dr. Hayes recently completed a 6-year term as editor of Psychotherapy Research and currently is the editor of Cogent Mental Health. He has authored a number of books, including his most recent one titled “College Student Mental Health and Wellness: Coping on Campus.” Dr. Hayes is a licensed psychologist and has provided psychotherapy to adults for more than 30 years.
