My name is Jean Hoffman, MD, MS, MBA, FACEP, and I currently serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine & Anesthesia and as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department. I completed my undergraduate degree and a Master’s degree in Education at Texas A&M University, followed by medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine. I then completed residency training in Emergency Medicine and pursued an Anesthesia Critical Care Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, with fellowship training at Grady Memorial Hospital. I am board certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. My clinical and academic background has been shaped by working in high-acuity, high-reliability environments that require close collaboration across specialties and strong alignment between frontline care and organizational leadership.

In my current roles, I focus on operational performance, quality, and system-level problem solving within acute care settings. My training in both Emergency Medicine and Critical Care has given me a broad perspective on patient flow, capacity management, and coordination across departments. As Medical Director, I work closely with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and ancillary services to address operational barriers that affect patient safety, throughput, and clinician workload. My academic role reflects a commitment to education and mentorship, with an emphasis on translating operational improvements into sustainable clinical practice. I have been actively involved in initiatives aimed at improving emergency department efficiency while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and professionalism across the medical staff.
