Dr Jay Rovisham Singh Doorga is an Oxford trained author, consultant, and is currently a lecturer at Université des Mascareignes. He holds a MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford; PhD in GIS -Modelling and Forecasting; and BSc Physics from the University of Mauritius. He is the recipient of academic honours and awards, including the University of Oxford ECM Award, Cambridge Outstanding Achievement Award, State of Mauritius Laureate Scholarship, Gold Medalist of the University of Mauritius, and Commonwealth Youth Awards Finalist. He has over 35 peer-reviewed publications and one book with over 650 citations, influencing the policy climate of Africa through scientific research, bridging the gap between scientific energy and climate issues and policy making. He has published on wide-ranging issues pertaining to coastal ocean management, disaster risk management, climate change, and renewable energy. Dr Doorga has also participated in international consultancies and steers national projects. His works covers issues ranging from flood risk management in Mauritius; sea level rise in Seychelles, Comoros, and Mauritius; climate mitigation and adaptation in small islands; and renewable energy adoption worldwide, including the Pacific and Indian Ocean islands. He holds a patent for the invention of a wave energy prototype under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade. His works have been featured in Forbes, University of Oxford, and Daily Maverick, influencing multilateral financial institutions, global think tanks, and policy makers to bring sustainable change in Africa.
