Durante su carrera científica, el Dr. García-Serrano ha trabajado sobre la premisa fundamental de analizar y entender la dinámica de las teleconexiones climáticas y su aplicación en el mundo de la predicción.

Ha sido IP de cuatro proyectos nacionales: DANAE (CGL2015-68342-R), GRAVITOCAST (ERC2018-092835), ATLANTE (PID2019-110234RB-C21), DYNCAST (CNS2022-135312); co-IP de un proyecto europeo: MEDSCOPE (ERA4CS / 690462); becario Marie Curie (H2020 MSCA-IF-EF / 655339); e investigador Ramón y Cajal (RYC-2016-21181).

Ha sido contributing author del IPCC: AR5 Chapter 11 (Kirtman et al. 2013); AR6 Chapter 4 (Lee et al. 2021).
