Jati is a PhD candidate and researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, UK. Her research focuses on newsroom fact-checking as a means to counter disinformation during Indonesia's 2024 presidential election. In 2023, she was selected as a research fellow for the Greater Internet Freedom (GIF) Harmful Speech Monitoring Fellowship, organised by Internews and funded by USAID.
Before pursuing her PhD, Jati worked as a professional TV journalist in Indonesia for 18 years. She represented Indonesia at the Intermedia Dialogue in Oslo, Norway, and Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2019, as well as in Tunis, Tunisia, in 2017, where she delivered presentations on the role of journalists in combating hate speech and disinformation.
In 2006, Jati was awarded a StuNed scholarship to study international broadcast journalism at the Radio Nederland Training Centre (RNTC) in Hilversum, the Netherlands. She also holds a master’s degree in media management from Universitas Indonesia.
