Jason M. Gibson is an award-winning anthropologist and historian with years of experience in cultural heritage and museums. He is the author of 'Ceremony Men: Making Ethnography and the Return of the Strehlow Collection' (State University of New York Press, 2020) which won the Council for Museum Anthropology Book Award (2021), the Australian Historical Association's W.K. Hancok Prize and was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Award in 2021. He has been awarded an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award and is the lead Chief Investigator on the 'Collecting at the Crossroads: Anthropology, Art and Cultural Change (1939-1986)' ARC Linkage Project. In 2024 he published 'Repatriation of Indigenous Cultural Heritage: Experiences of Return in Central Australia' (Routledge, UK) and is now working on a book with the Aboriginal community of Laramba about their tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
