Jasmine Rice is a PhD student in the department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at OISE. Her work focuses on Indigenous language reclamation, and is grounded in her experiences reclaiming her own ancestral language, Kanien'kéha , the Mohawk language. Jasmine's connections to the Mohawk community are through her family, situated in Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory, through her language learning school, Six Nations Polytechnic, and through her Indigenous circle at OISE including the Indigenous Literatures Lab and the Indigenous Education Network. Jasmine is also a passionate educator, teaching in the Masters of Teaching program at OISE and as an occasional teacher in the Halton District School Board.
