Jarred Roberts

(He/Him)

Dr. Jarred Roberts works in the field of high-energy astrophysics instrumentation development for experiments like the Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI), Strobe-X, and the Advanced Particle-astrophysics Telescope (APT).

Below is a short list of projects Jarred has worked on:

The Tracking and Imaging Gamma-Ray Explorer (TIGRE, University of California Riverside):
- Physics student and undergraduate researcher: Micro-wire bond technician on Si strip detectors, instrument integration, software command interface, and instrument integration.

The ANtarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA, University of Hawaii Manoa):
- ASIC-interfacing and FPGA electronics designing, testing, and characterization; testing and characterizing the radio preamp modules; assembly of the power distribution box; assembly and testing of the payload electronics during design readiness; full payload integration; testing and monitoring during launch from of McMurdo Station, Antarctica (2014); preparation for payload balloon launch in 2016.

The Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI, University of California San Diego and Berkeley):
- ASIC interfacing and FPGA electronics design, testing, and ASIC characterization; COSI-Balloon launch payload integration (2020); Software tools development (python); germanium detector instrumentation, testing/characterization; gamma-ray point source imaging and spectral analysis; electronics hardware development for space applications; germanium detector radiation damage characterization and annealing procedure development.

Paradromics (Brain-Computer Interfacing):
- ASIC-interfacing electronics engineer for medical applications; micro-electronics design; FPGA electronics design.
