Jarred H. Martin (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where he teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise postgraduate research in gender and sexuality studies. He is the research leader of the Alternative Sexualities in Africa Project (ASAP), which focuses on critical studies of bodies, gender, and sexualities, with particular attention to queer intimacy, health, and wellbeing within communities of kink and alternative sexualities. In addition, he is a partner member of the Africa–Europe Cluster of Research Excellence in Health, Gender and Sexualities, co-led by the University of Pretoria and the University of Oslo, serves as an Associate Editor for Psychology & Sexuality, sits on the Editorial Boards of Psychology & Sexuality, Sexuality & Culture, and Methods in Psychology, and is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
