Janine’s cultural heritage is drawn from her North Queensland connections to both the Gugu Badhun in the Upper Burdekin region and the Ngadjonji on the Atherton Tablelands. Her research interests are grounded in her community development with the Gugu Badhun Aboriginal Nation and focuses on the political representation and self-government strategies of Aboriginal Nations. Janine is Research Fellow at the University of Queensland's ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures.
