A/Prof Jane Herbert is an expert in infant cognition and development based in the School of Psychology at the University of Wollongong. She is the director of the Wollongong Infant Learning Lab (WILL) and Head of Communities Partnerships at Early Start. She is a researcher in Relationship and Interactions theme at Early Start.

A/Prof Herbert's primary interest is in the first 1000 days. Her research considers how maturation and environmental experiences impact on the child’s developing brain and cognitive abilities, and on parent-child interactions. Her current research examines infant learning and memory, parent-child interactions, early literacy and book reading interactions, early numeracy, the role of Dads, and parental well-being and parenting self-efficacy from pregnancy onwards.
