Jane Frank

Dr Jane Frank is an Australian academic, editor and poet with a PhD in Cultural Studies and extensive experience across higher education, the creative industries and cultural policy. She is Program Coordinator for Communication at the University of the Sunshine Coast and has held lecturing, leadership and research roles at Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, Open Universities Australia, and across arts and government sectors.

Her research examines cultural infrastructure, regional creative economies and literary production. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Griffith University, where she investigated the International Book Town Movement and regional cultural regeneration; a Master of Business (Arts Management, by research) from QUT, focused on regionalism and community arts practice; and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Art History from The University of Queensland.

Jane’s professional expertise spans program coordination, curriculum design and work-integrated learning, alongside senior roles in arts funding, cultural partnerships, strategic policy and festival curation. This work reflects a sustained engagement with the intersections of culture, communication and the creative industries in both educational and public contexts.

Her most recent poetry collection is Gardening on Mars (Shearsman Books, 2025).
