Dr Jan Dewar (Ngai Tahu) is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka and was previously the Head of Nursing at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Her thesis 'What is 'good care; in a medical/surgical setting used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. She has completed research about evaluation of health standards for Māori, effect of the vaccine mandate, and higher education development in nursing. She has an interest in health safety and quality, and Māori health.
