James Wenley is a Pākehā theatre academic, practitioner and critic. James was awarded a PhD from the University of Auckland and is a Senior Lecturer in Te Whare Ngangahau–Theatre and Performance Studies at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington. James makes theatre under his company Theatre of Love, and is the editor and founder of TheatreScenes.co.nz, a platform for reviews and commentary on Aotearoa theatre. His book, Aotearoa New Zealand Theatre in the Global Theatre Marketplace: Travelling Theatre (2021), is published by Routledge.
