- Professor of Paleontology and Stratigraphy, Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington
I am a professor of paleontology and stratigraphy at Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka, Wellington, New Zealand. My research interests currently lie with biodiversity and evolutionary dynamics of marine invertebrates (e.g., clams, snails, and zooplankton – animals that float in the oceans), but I continue to work on the Cretaceous geological history of the SW Pacific. Over the years I have been involved in many forms of outreach, including the design of a large touring exhibit on fossils, and I have co-authored two popular books about New Zealand fossils. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand Te Aparangi, a Fellow of the Paleontological Society (USA), and have served the Paleontological Society as Editor of the journal Paleobiology.
