James Keating completed his PhD in History at the University of New South Wales in 2017. He is a historian of Australia and New Zealand in the world, and is currently preparing a book, on the individual connections and organisational networks that linked Australasian women’s rights activists with their counterparts across the globe between the 1880s and 1914, for Manchester University Press.
Before commencing at UNSW, James worked as a historian at the Office of Treaty Settlements in New Zealand. He holds an MA from Victoria University of Wellington, and his research has been published in Australian Historical Studies, History Compass, New Zealand Economics Papers, Women's History Review, and Women in International and Universal Exhibitions 1876–1937 (Routledge, 2018). He also serves as a member of the Journal of Australian Studies' editorial committee.
