James Cockayne is Professor of Global Politics and Anti-Slavery at the University of Nottingham. He is a Member of the World Economic Forum Global Futures Council for the New Agenda on Equity and Social Justice, founder of Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (www.fastinitiative.org), and chaired the US Council on Foreign Relations Study Group on Trafficking in Persons. His books include Developing Freedom: The Sustainable Development Case for Fighting Modern Slavery (UNU, 2021) and Hidden Power: The Strategic Logic of Organized Crime (OUP, 2016).
