Jackie is an Associate Professor in English Education at the University of Sydney. She was Chief Examiner of HSC English (Standard and Advanced), a Member of the NSW Board of Studies (now NESA) and the Chair of a number of English curriculum committees. She has researched and written widely about English education and is passionate about literature, language and students' experience of English in schools.
