Dr. Jackie Lyn “Jack” Guevara is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University specializing in golf and sports turfgrass management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, with a major in Soil Science, from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and completed both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Crop and Soil Sciences at Michigan State University. Her master’s research focused on turfgrass soil fertility. For her doctoral research, Dr. Guevara played a key role in developing and evaluating playing surfaces for the FIFA World Cup 2026, a project in which she continues to be actively involved. Her research has been adopted by sod producers and field managers across the United States, Mexico, and Canada as they prepare for the tournament.
Beyond her research contributions, Dr. Guevara is deeply committed to the mentorship and training of the next generation of turfgrass professionals. She advises, mentors, and recruits students for the Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) Golf Turf and Sports and Commercial Turf Management Certificate Programs, helping to shape future leaders in the industry.
