Jack Chapel is an applied economist studying topics in health and labor economics. He is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. His research focuses on: (1) the social determinants of health and health disparities, and (2) the impacts of chronic diseases on economic outcomes.

Jack earned his PhD in economics from USC in 2024 and BS in economics from Tulane University in 2015. He has worked in academic and government research settings such as the USC Schaeffer Center, USC Center for Economic and Social Research, and the US Department of Labor. Prior to joining USC, he spent five years working at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Research Fellow (ORISE), where he conducted economic evaluations of public health programs.
